For this class project, we were tasked with immersing ourselves in a craft form, understanding the artists involved, and creating a book publication. I opted to visit a quaint village near Ahmedabad, where I had the privilege of meeting the Prajapati family. They are revered as pioneers in crafting wooden blocks used for printing on cloth. Engaging with the entire family, I gained diverse insights into their craft, all of which I meticulously documented through photography. The process of creating the publication was invigorating, requiring us to maximize the available information. Personally, I found learning about bookbinding and experimenting with various materials to be the most enjoyable aspect of the project.
